Prayer for Healing and Restoration in Marriage Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. - Genesis 2:24

Prayer Request: for Healing and Restoration in Marriage

Recently, we received a prayer request from someone seeking God’s healing and restoration in her marriage. She shared the pain of emotional distance, unanswered questions, and a longing to see her relationship renewed through God’s grace.

Many marriages go through difficult seasons where communication becomes strained, trust is tested, or emotional connection seems to fade. During these times, we can bring every burden before the Lord, knowing that He is able to heal, restore, and strengthen what has been broken.

Below is a prayer for healing, unity, and restoration in marriage.

Prayer for Healing and Restoration in Marriage

Abba Father,

We come before You today with thanksgiving and praise (Psalm 100:4). Lord, we thank You for ____ and ____, and we thank You that You brought them together in covenant marriage. Your Word says that what God has joined together, let no man separate (Mark 10:9).

Father, we lift up this marriage before You today. We ask that You come into the center of this relationship and remove anything that is causing division, confusion, distance, hurt, or misunderstanding between them. Lord, where there are trials and difficulties, we ask that instead of tearing them apart, these things would draw them closer together and strengthen them as one.

Lord, give them wisdom, understanding, and discernment (James 1:5). Help them to truly hear one another and to communicate with grace, honesty, and love. Where there has been emotional distance, bring restoration. Where there has been hurt or confusion, bring clarity and healing.

Father, teach them to forgive one another just as You have forgiven us (Colossians 3:13). Soften hearts where hearts have become hardened. Restore tenderness, trust, affection, and emotional connection within this marriage.

Lord, we ask that You be the head of this marriage and that ____ and ____ would become aligned spiritually, emotionally, and in unity of purpose (Genesis 2:24). Draw them closer to You, and in doing so, closer to one another.

Protect their marriage from every attack of the enemy and from every external influence that seeks to divide them. Your Word says that no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand on that promise today over this union.

Fill their home with peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give them wisdom to navigate every challenge together and grace to continue choosing one another daily.

Lord, where there are things hidden in darkness, bring truth and light (Luke 8:17). Where there are wounds from the past, unresolved pain, shame, fear, or spiritual burdens, we ask that You bring healing and freedom through Jesus Christ.

Father, if there are any unhealthy spiritual ties, ungodly attachments, past agreements, or doors that were opened knowingly or unknowingly, we ask in the mighty name of Jesus that they be broken and renounced. We ask for forgiveness for every sin and transgression, and we declare that through the blood of Jesus there is freedom, cleansing, and redemption (1 John 1:9).

Lord, break every foothold and every stronghold that may be operating against this marriage. We declare that the enemy has no authority over ____ and ____’s relationship. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36).

We plead the blood of Jesus over this couple as a hedge of protection around them. Guard their hearts, their minds, their home, and their covenant.

Lord, restore joy where it has been lost. Restore peace where there has been turmoil. Restore unity where there has been division. Let this marriage become a testimony of Your healing, restoration, mercy, and love.

We thank You, Father, that You hear our prayers (1 John 5:14), and we place this marriage into Your hands.

In Jesus’ mighty name we pray,

Amen.
