Prayer for Marriage and Employment Now let it be that the young woman to whom I say, ‘Please let down your pitcher that I may drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink’—let her be the one You have appointed for Your servant Isaac. - Genesis 24:14

Prayer Request: for Marriage and Employment

Recently, we received a prayer request from someone who was trusting God for two important areas of her life: marriage according to His will and the right employment opportunity. Although she had experienced a long season of waiting, her desire was to continue placing her hope and future in God’s hands.

Waiting can be one of the most difficult seasons in a believer’s journey. Whether we are praying for a spouse, a job, or direction for the future, God’s Word reminds us that He knows the plans He has for us and that His timing is always perfect.

Below is a prayer for those waiting on God for marriage, employment, and His guidance.

Prayer for Marriage and Employment

Abba Father,

We come before You today with thanksgiving and praise (Psalm 100:4), and we want to lift up ____ before You.

Lord, thank You for revealing Yourself to her and for the gift of salvation that she has received through Your grace. We thank You that she knows You as her Lord, her Helper, and the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Lord, we thank You that even in seasons of waiting, she continues to seek You and place her trust in You.

Father, You know the desires of ____’s heart (Psalm 37:4), and You know her longing for marriage according to Your will. Lord, when we look at the story of Isaac and Rebekah, we see that You are able to bring people together according to Your divine plan (Genesis 24). Rebekah was at the right place at the right time, and in her waiting she continued with what was before her to do. Lord, You guided her footsteps, and we ask for the same grace and guidance over ____’s life.

If she is still waiting for the husband You have ordained for her, we ask that You guide her steps and order her path (Psalm 37:23). Let her be in the right place at the right time, surrounded by the people You desire her to meet.

Lord, we pray for her future marriage according to Your perfect will. We pray for unity, peace, and a foundation firmly rooted in You. We pray that nothing will stand between what You have ordained, and that her future husband will be a godly man who puts You first and seeks Your wisdom and direction in how to lead his household (Joshua 24:15).

As ____ draws closer to You, we pray that her future husband would also be drawing closer to You, even now. Prepare them both individually for the covenant You may have planned for them.

Father, we ask that the people You place on ____’s path would be destiny helpers and godly connections, people who will encourage, support, and help guide her into the plans You have for her. At the same time, we pray that she too will be a blessing to those You place in her path, that she may be a light for others to see and that they may see You through her (Matthew 5:16).

Lord, we also lift up her family before You. Your Word says that it is not Your will that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). We pray that through ____’s life, testimony, and love, her family may see the light of Christ shining through her. Make Yourself known to them, Lord, and draw them gently toward Your heart.

Father, we also want to bring before You ____’s desire for employment. Lord, You know the years of waiting she has experienced and the disappointment she may have carried while applying and not yet seeing breakthrough. Yet we know that You are the God who opens doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8).

Lord, we pray that You send that one opportunity, that one person, and that one open door that can change the direction of her life here on earth. We know that sometimes it only takes one opportunity to create a domino effect across the rest of our lives.

We pray that this opportunity finds ____ in Your perfect timing. Open the doors that are from You, and we thank You for closing the doors that were never meant for her good (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Father, place her in a workplace where she will be valued, where her gifts and knowledge will have impact, and where she too may be a blessing to others. We know that sometimes You place us in certain environments not only for our own provision, but because someone there needs the light, encouragement, or wisdom that we carry.

Lord, we pray for Your will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven (Matthew 6:10). And where there may be grief, disappointment, or questions over things not working out the way she had hoped, we ask that You comfort her and give her peace. Help her to trust that You see the bigger picture and that Your plans are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Today we surrender our plans before You and submit ourselves to Your wisdom and understanding. Your Word says that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20), and we place our hope in You.

Father, we thank You that You hear our prayers (1 John 5:14). We thank You that we will see and taste the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13).

In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
