Have you ever prayed for deliverance, fasted, or taken steps toward spiritual breakthrough, only to feel like things suddenly go wrong? Often, when breakthrough comes, the enemy intensifies his attacks, seeking to delay, disrupt, or steal your victory. This is what we call post-deliverance backlash.
The devil is the original rule-breaker (John 8:44), and he will exploit any weakness in your spiritual life. No slackness will go unnoticed, and if you engage in spiritual warfare, he will attempt to harass you personally, through your family, or even through other believers.
But as a believer, you are not powerless. You are called to take the offensive, armed with the authority of Jesus Christ (Luke 10:19; Ephesians 6:10–18). Rebuke Satan and his hosts. Claim the protection of Jesus’ blood, eternal life, and salvation (Revelation 12:11; 1 John 4:4).
Be persistent in prayer. Use the Word of God and your authority as a believer to resist the enemy. As you stand firm, the enemy will retreat (James 4:7).
After intercession or spiritual warfare, the enemy often retaliates. Binding or cutting off backlash is a biblical principle that protects you, your family, and your territory from retaliation. The Bible gives us the authority to do this through Jesus Christ and His shed blood.
Why we bind backlash:
Scriptural foundation for binding backlash:
Start by inviting the Holy Spirit to guide you in making this prayer specific to your situation.
Abba Father,
I come before You with thanksgiving and praise. Thank You, Lord, for guiding me to take the first steps in breaking off every bondage. I stand in the authority You have given me through the cross of Jesus Christ, and I claim by faith the protection of Your armor, that I may stand against Satan and all his hosts and overcome them in the mighty name of Jesus (Ephesians 6:11–17).
Lord, I take Your truth to counter the lies of the enemy, and I take Your righteousness to overcome every accusation and evil thought sent against me (Psalm 91:4). I put on the equipment of the gospel of peace, forsaking the safety and comfort of life to wage spiritual warfare for Your glory. Above all, I take Your faith to block doubts and unbelief, and I take Your salvation, trusting You to protect my body, soul, and spirit from all attacks of the enemy (2 Corinthians 10:4–5).
Holy Spirit, empower me to use the Word of God effectively against every stronghold, to sever every bondage, and to bring deliverance to all who are captive to Satan (Hebrews 4:12).
I now command every evil spirit that seeks to oppress, harass, or retaliate to leave me, my family, my property, my finances, and my loved ones immediately, in the mighty name of Jesus (Mark 16:17; Luke 10:19). I forbid any foothold, retaliation, or backlash from these spirits. I ask that the Holy Spirit fills every vacancy left by the enemy so that no evil spirit may return (Ephesians 4:27).
Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, I bind and cut off all backlash, retaliation, and revenge. I stop all assignments of the enemy against what I have prayed and for any reason against me, my family, my loved ones, our land, our property, our animals, and our destinies and purpose.
I stop all communication of the enemy about my intercession and prayers. I plead the blood of Jesus over our minds, bodies, and souls, and over all that pertains to us.
Father, I ask that You send Your warring angels to place a hedge of protection around me, my family, my loved ones, and everything that belongs to us. Protect us by fire and by force. Let no weapon or spirit of the enemy prosper. Seal every breakthrough and make us secure in You.
I declare that I am covered by the blood of Jesus, and no weapon formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Even as I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me (Psalm 23:4). I decree that I am trampling serpents and scorpions underfoot, and every arrow of the enemy shall fall powerless at my side (Luke 10:19).
Thank You, Lord, that because You are for me, nothing can ultimately prevail against me. I claim victory and protection over every area of my life, in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
