Prayer Request: Prayer for a Loved One Struggling with Addiction ...I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. Exodus 6:6

Prayer Request: for a Loved One Struggling with Addiction

Recently, we received a prayer request from a mother asking for prayer for her daughter. Her heart’s desire is to see her daughter set free from substance use and restored to a close relationship with Jesus Christ.

Many families carry the burden of watching a loved one struggle with addiction, feeling helpless as they pray and wait for breakthrough. Yet Scripture reminds us that nothing is impossible for God and that His love continually pursues those who have wandered from Him.

Below is a prayer for freedom from addiction, restoration, and a renewed relationship with Christ.

Prayer for a Loved One Struggling with Addiction

Abba Father,
We lift up ____’s loved one before You. Lord, we thank You for this reader, a mother / father / brother / sister / friend who is faithfully standing in the gap for her child, just as it is written, “I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me…” (Ezekiel 22:30).

Lord, You are our Father, and we know that You see their heart. You see the pain and the burden she carries. Your Word reminds us that “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him” (Psalm 103:13).

Lord, we know that it is not Your will for anyone to live in bondage, for “whom the Son sets free is free indeed” (John 8:36). We stand in agreement with this reader for her daughter’s complete deliverance. Just as You left the ninety-nine for the one (Luke 15:4), we ask, Father, that You pursue her daughter and encounter her in a powerful and undeniable way.

Lord, we ask for a supernatural encounter, reveal Yourself to her. Let her know that she is deeply loved, for “neither death nor life… nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God” (Romans 8:38–39).

Father, we ask for freedom, true and lasting freedom, from every form of bondage gripping her life. For it is written:
“I am the Lord… I will redeem you with an outstretched arm” (Exodus 6:6).

Lord, as this reader stands as a representative of their bloodline, we come before You in repentance on behalf of anything that may have opened the door to this bondage. Your Word says that iniquity can pass through generations (Exodus 20:5), but we also stand on Your promise of mercy. We ask that You forgive every transgression and blot it out, according to Your Word: “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12).

Father, we also ask that You remove any relationships or influences that are drawing her away from You. Your Word says, “Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company corrupts good character’” (1 Corinthians 15:33). Lord, instead, send her destiny helpers, people who will lead her closer to You and walk with her into the plans You have for her life. For You have said, “For I know the plans I have for you… plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).

Lord, we now come against every spirit of bondage, addiction, and slavery operating in her life.
Your Word says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

In the mighty Name of Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach), we rebuke and renounce every spirit of addiction and bondage. We break every covenant, every agreement, and every stronghold in Jesus’ Name. For it is written, “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4).

Father, we ask that by Your Holy Spirit, You would uproot every lie believed and replace it with Your truth. Let every idol be torn down, for “You shall have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3), and “Love the Lord your God with all your heart…” (Matthew 22:37).

Holy Spirit, we ask that You come with Your consuming fire, burn away every root of addiction, every seed of bondage, body, soul, and spirit. Wash her completely by the blood of Jesus, for “the blood of Jesus Christ… cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

Lord, we ask that every door that was opened be shut and sealed by the blood of Jesus. We declare freedom over her life.

And now, Lord, we loose what is from You. Your Word says, “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 18:18).

We loose the Spirit of Adoption, for “you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father’” (Romans 8:15).
We loose liberty, for “stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free” (Galatians 5:1).
We loose life, Your abundant life, as it is written, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

Jehovah El Roi, You are the God who sees her (Genesis 16:13). Uphold her with Your righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). Draw her back to You, Father, for “No one can come to Me unless the Father… draws him” (John 6:44).

Lord, we thank You in advance for her deliverance, her restoration, and her return to You. Let this be a testimony of Your power, grace, and mercy.

All of this we pray, in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.
