A Testimony of hope beyond rejection

“Just drop your application in that box and move out!” the lady at the reception desk shouted.

I had moved from one office to another looking for a job, but all my efforts had been in vain. This office was my last hope, yet the receptionist’s rude response quickly diminished the little hope I had left.

I was tired and exhausted after spending the previous six months searching for employment. During that period, I had submitted hundreds of job applications and sent countless emails without receiving a single response not even an acknowledgment that my applications had been received.

The receptionist looked me up and down. My shoes were covered with dust from walking from one office to another, and she immediately recognized me as another desperate, weary job seeker. She dismissed me without allowing me anywhere near the manager’s office.

I walked away discouraged, feeling as though I had reached the end of the road. Questions flooded my mind. Why was this happening? Where was God in all of this? I was convinced that, with such an attitude from the receptionist, my application would never reach the manager. In fact, I imagined its most likely destination would be the dustbin.

As I sat alone in a nearby park, I reflected on all the setbacks, disappointments, and humiliation I had experienced. At that moment, I realized I had only two choices: either to give up and return to my small village or to keep fighting despite the pain.

It was then that the story of the Israelites gave me renewed strength.

After leaving Egypt on their journey to the Promised Land a land flowing with milk and honey their path was far from easy. Many grew weary and died in the wilderness. Others lost hope and longed to return to Egypt. Yet a faithful remnant chose to trust God and continued forward under Joshua’s leadership until they entered the land God had promised.

Their story reminded me that although life’s journey may be difficult, perseverance and faith always have a reward. They faced countless obstacles, yet they refused to surrender to the voices of fear, doubt, and negativity. Instead, they pressed on with courage and hope.

Another Scripture deeply encouraged me during my lowest moments:

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:29–31 (New International Version)

I can confidently testify that the Lord renewed my strength when I had none left. He restored my hope and gave me the courage to apply again. I chose not to quit.

Filled with fresh determination, I resolved to keep moving forward. One week later, God performed a miracle. I received a call inviting me for an interview. Not only did I secure a job, but I received three job offers and had the privilege of choosing between them.

This is a true story one that continues to strengthen my resolve whenever I face difficult seasons.

If you are going through a season of disappointment, rejection, or delay, be encouraged. Remain resilient in pursuing the goals God has placed in your heart. Do not surrender, and do not grow weary. The God who strengthened me is the same God who will strengthen you.
