“I will redeem you with an outstretched arm…” (Exodus 6:6, NKJV)
The spirit of bondage is a spiritual force that seeks to enslave a person through cycles of sin, dependency, and control. One of its clearest manifestations is addiction.
Addiction can take many forms: drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, pornography, sexual sin and ungodly soul ties, eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, fear of death, and even dependency on television, video games, or social media. While these may appear physical or emotional on the surface, Scripture reveals that anything that masters us becomes a form of bondage.
“For by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.” (2 Peter 2:19)
Yet, this is not God’s will for His children.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)
“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’” (Romans 8:15)
Addiction is not only a habit, it is often the fruit of deeper spiritual roots.
Scripture teaches us:
Bondage often enters through open doors such as sin, trauma, lies believed, or repeated patterns of the flesh. But Jesus did not leave us without authority.
Jesus gave believers spiritual authority: “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 18:18)
To bind means to forbid, restrain, or render powerless anything that is not from God, such as the spirit of bondage, addiction, fear, or death.
To loose means to release, permit, and establish what is from God, His freedom, His Spirit, His life, and His truth.
This is important: when something is removed, it must be replaced. We do not only renounce darkness, we also invite and establish the light of God in its place.
Therefore, we bind and loose the following for addiction:
Abba Father, I come to You in the Mighty Name of Yeshua HaMashiach, my Lord and my Savior.
I repent of my sin, that I have believed the lies of the enemy and allowed myself to fall into bondage, slavery, and addiction. I confess that I have given place to things that have taken mastery over me.
Your Word says: “For you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.” (Exodus 34:14)
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37, NKJV)
Lord, I repent for every form of idolatry, for placing anything above You, for relying on it as a crutch, and for believing it had power over my mind, body, soul, and spirit.
I repent for believing lies that these things could comfort me, help me, or even draw others, when Your Word says:
“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him…” (John 6:44)
Father, please forgive me for all these sins and transgressions, in the Mighty Name of Yeshua HaMashiach.
Holy Spirit, I invite Your presence now. Let Your holy fire come and burn away every root and every seed of bondage in my mind, my body, my soul, and my spirit.
Wash me in the precious blood of Jesus, that nothing may stand against me.
Destroy every harvest I have sown that opened doors to death and bondage.
I now come against the spirit of bondage, slavery, and addiction.
I rebuke you in the Mighty Name of Yeshua HaMashiach.
I command you to cease and desist.
I reject you, and I cast you out now in the Name of Jesus.
I break every covenant, every agreement, and every tie with you, in Jesus’ Name.
Jehovah Sabaoth, Lord of Hosts, send Your warrior angels to remove every unclean spirit to where Jesus sends them.
Every spirit operating in my body—especially in my chest and lungs—I command you: come out now in the Name of Jesus Christ.
I close every door you entered through.
I seal it with the blood of Yeshua HaMashiach.
Jehovah El Roi, You are the God who sees me.
You uphold me with Your righteous right hand.
I declare that Jesus is my salvation.
According to Your Word: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” (Galatians 5:1)
I now loose over myself:
In the Mighty Name of Jesus.
Amen.
