A Testimony of God's Protection
I recently had an experience that really showed me how God’s protection works in our daily lives. It’s been a journey of growing faith, and I hope this testimony will be a blessing to you.
My daily routine involves quite a commute – about 3 hours on the road, covering around 160 kilometers to and from work. It’s a lot, I know, but it’s become part of my daily walk with God.
On August 22, 2024, God showed up in an incredible way during my usual drive home. I was stuck in CBD traffic, just waiting at a red light in the middle lane of a three-lane road. I had my praise and worship music on, not really paying attention to my surroundings.
Suddenly, I heard this awful screeching sound – like a car’s fan belt gone wrong. I looked in my mirror and saw a huge truck speeding towards us, not slowing down at all. In that split second, all I could think was, “Lord, help me!”
Now, this is where it gets amazing. Instead of panicking, I felt this incredible calm come over me. It was like the Holy Spirit just took control. Without even thinking, I flicked on my indicator, honked my horn, and started edging into the right lane. I didn’t check for space or other cars – I just moved.
This truck swerved to the left lane and missed me by maybe 5cm! It ran the red light, hit a few cars past the intersection, and crashed into a wall. There was dust everywhere. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
As I drove past this fresh accident, I started realizing all these little miracles:
- There was just enough space for me to squeeze partway into the right lane.
- The car behind me didn’t move forward and hit me.
- My indicator was on – I don’t even remember turning it on!
- The timing was perfect – if anything had been different, I would’ve been hit.
I couldn’t stop thanking God – for saving me, protecting me, guiding me, and literally taking the wheel when I needed it most. It was like He stepped in and did what I couldn’t do on my own. This experience really built my faith, showing me how God is always there, even in our everyday routines.
Biblical Principles in Action
This experience reminded me of some important biblical principles:
- Prayer works: In that moment of panic, my instinct was to call on God. As Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
- Faith will be rewarded: Even though I didn’t have time to think, my faith in God’s protection was there. Hebrews 11:6 tells us, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that he exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
- God’s guidance is real: The way the Holy Spirit guided my actions was incredible. It wasn’t my own doing, but God working through me.
If you’re reading this and feeling like your faith isn’t strong enough yet, don’t worry. Ask God to give you faith – I promise you that He will. After all, He is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
This experience was part of my longer journey of growing in faith. It’s been a process of the Holy Spirit building my faith brick by brick, layer upon layer. It definitely wasn’t an overnight thing!
I hope sharing this encourages you. No matter what situation you find yourself in, God’s got your back. Trust Him – He has a way of showing up exactly when we need Him most.
